NorGePart: Norwegian-Georgian Partnership Program for Research-Based Educational Collaboration in Anthropology

The NorGePart project aims to 1) institutionalize, strengthen and expand the ties that have been developed between individual scholars of the University of Bergen (hereafter UiB) and Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (hereafter TSU) over the past years; 2) Expose BA, MA and PhD students of both partner institutions to an international educational environment and different academic traditions; 3) Share teaching experiences and research methodologies between the academic staff of the partner institutions; 4) Assist the partner institution in Georgia on its way to the full and successful integration into the Western academic environments and meeting the standards of the Bologna process that it is part of; 5) To create a basis for future long-term collaboration within the fields of research and teaching, and student/academic staff mobility between the two departments; 6) Expand the geographical and thematic areas of expertise at the Department of Social Anthropology at UiB by promoting research and knowledge on the Eurasian region among the students.
To implement the above-mentioned goals, the project will involve organizing a summer school, student mobility at BA, MA and Ph.D. level, developing a course for the BA level, regular meetings of the collaborative partners for revising the existing curricula as well as planning future joint research and teaching activities.
