Søknadssammendrag
The project ExPOSE (Entrepreneurship in the Post-Oil tranSition Economy: engaging students through action-based learning) brings together HEI from subnational administrative units in Norway and Brazil that have successfully diversified its economic development pathway beyond oil-exploitation. ExPOSE will be an arena of critical reflection for researchers and students alike about the role of entrepreneurship in the regional development dynamics of these regions by integrating action-based pedagogics. ExPOSE will rely in activities as joint course development, a joint summer school of two-weeks in Brazil and Norway, mobility of master students and joint lecturing. The action-based pedagogical approach will combine lectures, site visit and project-oriented cross-national team work. The students will engage with partners from industry in Bodø and Rio de Janeiro to collect empirical data to write a research report. The research report will be presented orally and in written form during and at the end of the course. Examples of topics are (but not limited to); (i) business models (ii) entrepreneurial opportunities (iii) social impact of technology-based firms and (iv) the role of technology-based entrepreneurship in regional development. The collaboration started through ExPOSE will serve as pilot in both main partner institutions, Nord University and Federal University of Fluminense for scaling-up the use of active-learning approaches as action-based learning in entrepreneurial and regional planning education in their master programs. A formalized network of Brazilian-Norwegian HEI will also result as an outcome of the project with aims of developing joint educational programs around the topics of entrepreneurship and post-oil development economics.
